STALLING OFFERS

Negotiate for as long a period as possible before you have to answer an offer. Get at least two weeks; a month is better. Many companies aren’t giving as much time today as they have in the past. Actually it’s to your and the company’s advantage that you be given a reasonable time, so that when you say yes, you’re comfortable with the decision.
If a company gives you an unreasonably limited time to answer them, you may question how attractive the company would be to work for. Between an offer and your acceptance, you have a good opportunity to get more information on the company, possibly improve the offer, and get another for comparison. Get your due, but don’t overdo it.
